The Story Behind "In God's Hand"

  1. When I finally gained access to Ken's computer I discovered a lithograph he was designing the day he passed. The title is "The Perfect Trinity" and includes three images near and dear to his heart...“God’s Signature”“The Eye of God” and “In God’s Hand” .

The image files were already processed in the project folder which made it easier to load them to the new website. I will share more about the challenges of accessing the digital files in future blog posts.

Today I want to share with you the story Ken wrote about the day he captured the image.

About the image and its capture:

The original capture of the image occurred on August 18, 2006 at 8:38 AM. The location was in the Bear Trap Canyon below the spillway and before the power generation facility.

The Story of the image:

“The three days previous to August 18 were highly charged with emotion from deep within my spirit...a spirit squirming with the anticipation of silent yet life changing events. On August 18, 2006 I knew without reservation that Grandmother Madison was whispering. It was time!

I arrived in the canyon early with my shadow Kodiak, a malamute and wolf mix. The color of morning at 8:30 was muted blue and grey, a palate not ideal for a color photograph. The river had a plan that was not color driven. It would be black and white, the order of the day. The image morphed quickly and the journey was complete and the story was told...at least that was my thought. As I was leaving the canyon with an inner sense of Grandmother Madison, as if she were in the back seat, she spoke quietly, “You may have overlooked the plan for your journey into the canyon this morning. For this moment and all that will follow, 'You are always in God's Hand.”
