Penny Hall
hand sculpted leather artist
I traded in my high heels and business suits for hikers and blue jeans when I met and married Ken W. Hall in 1994. I left the hectic city life behind and followed him from Fort Worth, Texas to Santa Fe, New Mexico. There we worked together expanding his fine art photography business doing art shows off the plaza and photographing a book project for a well known sculptor.
We moved to Taos, New Mexico where I worked for an interior designer and owner of three galleries. That experience taught me about the business of art.
For fun I played with buckskin hides and created a flute bag for my husband’s Native American style cedar flute. Surrounded by authentic Native American art kindled my own native heritage.
My husband’s free spirit and love of fly fishing guided our adventures from New Mexico, to Colorado and north to the Madison Valley of Montana.
Not long after our arrival in 2000 I became aware of shifts in my sight . In 2003 I was diagnosed as legally blind. My journey through ever changing sight opened the way for my own art career creating hand sculpted leather blessing bowls.
My leather art traveled to galleries and gift shops in Montana, Utah, Idaho, Illinois, Oregon, Colorado, North Carolina and New Mexico. I have private collectors all over the United States as well as foreign countries.
In 2020 I chose to preserve and curate the art legacy of spirit photographer Ken W. Hall, my late husband and 26 year business partner.
As the owner of BearFeather Studio, LLC I create, produce and sell my hand sculpted leather art and Ken’s vast legacy through my online gallery at https://www.bearfeatherstudio.com.
I continue to live, work and play in Ennis, Montana along the Madison River in magnificent Big Sky Country.
